diferentes:
Banking correspondence: Case # 1

The Manager
Banco del Chaco
Malabia 1823
1425 Palermo
BUENOS AIRES
Dear Sir/Madam,
I
am writing to request authorisation for an overdraft
facility on my current account, presently held at your
branch.
I
have been assigned to a new position at the
head office of my company in Palermo, Buenos Aires, and
will take up my new duties at the beginning of next
month. Although this appointment will mean a substantial
increase in salary, it will also entail some extra
expense in the immediate future. I will, for example,
have to pay for the move to Buenos Aires and make a
deposit on the flat that I will be renting.
I
would therefore be very pleased if
you could arrange for an overdraft facility of 3,000
dollars, which I will require for a two-month period. As
you will see, this is the first time that I have made
such a request, and my account has always been in credit
until now.
Could you also let me know the
procedure for transferring my account to your Palermo
branch.
Thanking you in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Macarena Barreiro
Banking correspondence: Case # 2
Mr Paul Goldener
Branch Manager
Mexican Savings Bank
Mexico D.F., 15450
Dear Mr. Goldener,
Following the recent telephone
conversation that I had with Ms Fernandez, I am
confirming in writing the complaint that I made to her
concerning the 30-dollar overdraft charge that your bank
has mistakenly debited from my account.
As you may remember, approximately
one month ago I arranged for the transfer of 500 dollars
from my savings account to my current account.
Unfortunately your bank gave exactly the opposite
instructions, transferring instead 500 dollars from my
current account to my savings account, with the result
that my current account became overdrawn. When I
realised that mistake had been made I contacted you
personally and you assured me that the situation would
be rectified immediately and that no overdraft charge
would be made.
On receiving my latest statement I
was therefore most surprised to see that my current
account had indeed been debited by 30 dollars for
overdraft charges. Although the transfer of the funds
has now been credited to the correct account, I see no
reason why I should pay a penalty as a result of a
mistake made by your bank, especially as I had your
personal guarantee that this would not be the case.
I have been a customer of your bank
for several years now and have had, to date, no reason
to complain about the quality of the services provided.
However, I feel that in the present circumstances this
situation should be clarified immediately and I expect a
full explanation of these mistakes. Failing this, I will
have no alternative but to consider transferring my
accounts to another bank.
Dear Mr.
Aranguren,
I
opened my

On 22nd

£33.50 for a

My

this appeared as a
