Minimal pairs

Minimal pairs are words that sound almost alike.

In some statements on Part A, you will hear a word that sounds almost like another word.

When you hear a statement, you must listen carefully to the sounds.

These are some of the most difficult pairs:
late-let  /  fond-found  /  said-sad  /  best-vest
thick-sick  /  run-rung  /  look-luck  /  hot-hat
they-day  /  run-ran  /  not-nut  /  eat-it
leaf-leave  /  safe-save  /  sung-song

EXAMPLE:
Statement: I thought her last name was "Best", but it was "Past."
Restatement: She is Mrs. Past (not Best).
