SPEAKING - PART 2 |
Part 3 and Part 4 of Paper 5 are related in topic.
Let us see them both: |
PART 3: DOING A
TASK TOGETHER |
Part 3 lasts for about 3 minutes. The examiner will give
you a task to do together, which will be based on some
visual material (e.g. a photo or drawing). The task could be to: |
- |
Plan something |
- |
Solve a problem |
- |
Come to a decision together |
- |
Put ideas in order, according to your own opinions or feelings |
- |
Talk about a hypothetical situation in the present or future |
PART 4: DISCUSSION |
Part 4 lasts for about 4 minutes.
The examiner will encourage a discussion related to the
topic of Part 3. You will be expected to discuss this with
each other as much as possible.
|
TIPS: GOOD
CANDIDATE TECHNIQUES |
1. |
Greet, and say goodbye to the two examiners
politely. Be friendly, relaxed
and positive. |
2. |
Be as communicative as you can. Don't be afraid to introduce ideas and ask
questions where appropriate. Make the task of getting language, reactions and
ideas out of you as easy as possible. |
3. |
Use as wide a range of correct language as you can to show what you can do
well. Don't worry too much about making mistakes!! |
4. |
Cooperate with the other candidate. Don't try to dominate him or her:
good
communication is helped by a cooperative attitude and harmed by competition. |
5. |
Whether you take Paper 5 with someone you know or someone you don't know will
depend on practical realities at your exam centre. If you know the other
candidate, the advantage is that you will probably feel more relaxed. If you
don't know the other candidate, the advantage is that there will be more to find
out about each other. Either way, OM Personal wishes you good luck!! |
