1.  They offered me some more wine and I accepted.

"Would you like some more wine?", they said. "Yes, please", I replied.

2.  He asked what the weather had been like during my vacation and I said that it had been splendid.

"What was the weather like during your vacation?", he asked. "It was splendid", I answered. 

3.  He suggested going down to the mall and seeing if they could buy a pair of running shoes.

"Let's go down to the mall and see if we can buy a pair of running shoes", he suggested.

4.  He said that if a war broke out he would have to leave the country immediately.

"If a war breaks out (broke out), I will (would) have to leave the country immediately", he said.

5.  I asked him if he had enjoyed his Caribbean cruise and he said that he hadn't.

"Did you enjoy your Caribbean cruise", I asked him. "No, I didn't", he said.
