You will listen to two candidates
during the Speaking Test. We did not publish the
audio transcriptions as – at this stage of the
course – you should be able to understand what the
students are being asked and what they are
commenting.
In this part, the examiner
usually starts by introducing ideas or questions
to both candidates: "Here are some pictures
showing some of the powerful influences which have
an impact on our daily lives. First, talk to each
other about how each of these influences affect
people today. Then decide which has the most
powerful influence on the greatest number of people".
And now check the audio while you look at the
pictures below.

ABOUT THE OTHER
CANDIDATE
1.
When your partner is speaking, show that
you're listening. React and respond appropriately. This can include
nodding and smiling, as well as speaking.
2.
If you start the conversation, make sure
you don't speak for too long. Give a brief opinion, then ask your
partner for her/his thoughts on the subject.
3.
Cooperate with the other candidate. When
it's your partner's turn to talk about the photos, listen but don't
interrupt. Don't try to dominate her or him: good communication
is helped by acooperative attitude and harmed by
competition.
