WRITING: PARTS 1 AND 2

In Part 1 you have to write an essay with a discursive focus in about 240-280 words. In Part 2 you will have a contextualised writing task which should be 280-320 words long.

INSTRUCTIONS

Look at the instructions carefully. They will tell you:

What you must read before you start to write.

Who you should write to (for example, the director of a company, a newspaper editor or some other stranger).
 

BEFORE YOU WRITE

This is our advice:
-

Follow the instructions exactly.
-

Organise your ideas carefully.
-

Use a rather formal register as it is an academic essay.
-

Always include your own point of view on the subject.
 

AFTER YOU WRITE

Check that your essay ...
-

has followed the instructions exactly.
-

begins and ends in a suitable way.
-

uses correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
