QUESTION 1: Have you ever had the opportunity to really help a friend?
I was at a nursing home that day. I was surrounded by people who dreaded coming to the nursing home. They kept complaining how their precious time was being wasted and they weren't about to gain anything. I too had the bad mentality, but it all changed when I met an old women who was soft-spoken. She looked at me when I greeted her and asked her how she was feeling that day. She didn't speak. Soon I learnt what her name was. I showed her, my friend's drawing in the name of myself. She started to draw on the paper nearby. Suddenly, conversation broke among us. She started to talk about her personal life experiences. I just sat there and listened. When it was the time for me to leave, she stood up and hugged me. She whispered, "Thanks for sitting here and listening to me". I was moved and told thanks in return for I had been told that she had bottled up her feelings to herself and never talked to others.
QUESTION 2: What's your happiest childhood memory?
I was 8 years old. My father came out to the yard where I was playing with friends and said "Let's go to the store to get a bike". I don't recall if I was asking for one, but I know I wanted one really bad. I knew that we didn't have money for something like that, but my parents must have found a way. It was like an unexpected birthday present. It was the best bike ever. Years later, my parents were in a better financial situation, and I was very well off in my own right. My parents came for a visit to our home in Seville for Christmas. Their present to me that year was a very nice mountain bike. Though that Christmas was just over 10 years ago, I still have the same mountain bike, I've logged many hundreds of miles. Until just this moment, I never put together that the reason they might have chosen to get me a mountain bike that Christmas was due to the reaction they saw in my eyes years ago when they got me my first bike.
