at first sight , an article I have just read may seem too far-fetched to be true. But

apart from some obvious exaggerations, it seems by no means improbable in

some modern armies where soldiers cannot be compelled to get their hair cut, for example.

no doubt the soldiers themselves see no harm in doing so , but

what is really at issue is whether they have a military mentality at all. In short,

the point is that people must like discipline or else they would not join the

army in the first place .

Of course you may well say that soldiers can be just as effective with long hair as with

short, but in fact it is necessary to supply them with hairnets,

like machinists in factories, to avoid the risk of accidents.
