Examples A and B can be rephrased
using IF. PROVIDED / PROVIDING (THAT)
and AS / SO LONG AS have a similar meaning
to IF. They are followed by similar verb forms
and emphasise the condition. |
REPHRASING EXAMPLE A: |
If you can do that, you should be able to find good
things at reasonable prices. |
REPHRASING EXAMPLE B: |
It's quite quiet
if it's not market day. |
HOWEVER +

Example C could be rephrased using

If you want to say that the situation
cannot be changed no matter who or what is involved you
can use whoever, wherever, however,
whatever, or whichever: |
