BULLFIGHTING (Part 1) |
Jack
tells Alex that watching
and participating in sports is one of the major things they both have in
common. However, Alex's appreciating what he calls “blood sports” is
something Jack just can’t relate to. |
Alex
replies that disagreeing about that is a never-ending argument and he
suggests that they should just concentrate on the things they have in common. |
Nevertheless, Jack
insists that arguing
can be productive and that he’d like to try and understand what attracts
Alex,
even if he can’t really appreciate it himself. |
Alex
explains that boxing,
fox hunting and bullfighting give him a thrill that normal team sports
can’t provide. He states that bullfighting is more an art than a sport. |
Finally,
Jack can't stand Alex's statement and insists that disagreeing with that idea is out of the question. |
JACK: |
Watching
and participating in sports is one of the major things we have in
common, Alex. However, your appreciating what I call “blood sports” is
something I just can’t relate to. |
ALEX: |
Disagreeing about that is a never-ending argument, Jack. Maybe we
should just concentrate on the things we have in common. |
JACK: |
Arguing
can be productive. I’d like to try and understand what attracts you,
even if I can’t really appreciate it myself. |
ALEX: |
Boxing,
fox hunting and bullfighting give me a thrill that normal team sports
can’t provide. Bullfighting is more an art than a sport. |
JACK: |
An art!
Agreeing with that idea is out of the question. |
