Reported questions (II)

ACTIVITY 233: This is a report of a conversation with a woman who trains animals to appear in films and on TV. What did the interviewer and the animal-trainer actually say? Complete the chart with their direct conversation and check the correct answers.

I asked her when she had started doing that work and she told me she had begun many years before when she had trained her family dog to appear in the film 'Oliver!' When I asked her what the secret of her success was, she replied that it was trust. She said she rewarded the animals when they performed well and she would never accept a job which involved any cruelty. I wondered which animal was the most difficult to deal with and I was surprised to hear that it was the cat. Apparently cats are more temperamental than actresses! I wanted to know if she could remember a particularly difficult assignment. She said she had been terrified by the hungry wolves in 'Company of Wolves'. But the most difficult requests were for commercials for Australian lager which required a lot of flies. I asked her how she caught the flies and she told me that they were impossible to catch. She had to breed them at home!!
