The following listening activity concentrates on the
assassination of the US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The aim of
this activity is not to explain the importance of the assassination, but
rather to look back on an important event in modern history for
the benefit of those students who remember the event and those who do
not.
Note that the listening text includes actual news
footage from the event, as it happened. This makes for exciting
listening, but there is an inevitable loss of recording quality in
places. You must also be prepared for a wide variety of voices, the
American accents and some speedy delivery in the audios.
At this first step, click on the speaker, relax and
just listen for general comprehension. You will have to answer some
questions after listening to this first audio file.
