Movie Reviews
Reseñas de Cine

Lee atentamente estas reseñas sobre SEIS películas famosas. Completa luego los dos ejercicios de lecto-comprensión.

People like to read movie reviews that come out in papers and specialized magazines. They usually help people decide which movies they want to see. In your personal case, as an Intermediate student, they can help you improve the use of showbusiness adjectives. You will find below critics of some famous movies, classics as well as more recent works.

Star Wars, 1977

Don't believe people who say you can't improve a good thing. Director George Lucas has taken Star Wars, which was a hit back in 1977, and made it even better. There are new scenes, incredible special effects, and an improved soundtrack. But Lucas isn't just a technical genius. He also knows how to win our hearts. Everyone will love this science-fiction adventure story about growing up, friendship, and good against evil. Audiences will especially like the exciting chase scenes and Darth Vader, who is one of the greatest movie villains of all time. A spectacular movie!!

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, 1941

This is a movie that keeps you glued to your seat!! Spencer Tracy stars in this terrifying story about a scientist who has a split personality. This 1941 classic also stars Lana Turner and Ingrid Bergman.

The Wizard of Oz, 1939

For the child in all of us. Watch the magic of Dorothy's adventures in the Land of Oz. Meet the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. The film stars Judy Garland. She sings some of the greatest songs in movie history. This is a movie that's out of this world.

2001: A Space Odyssey, 1968

Directed by Stanley Kubrick, this is a story about two astronauts who are on a fatal mission in outer space. But the ship's computer, HAL, really steals the show.

The African Queen, 1951

One of the greatest love stories of all time stars Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart. Hepburn is very cool with Bogart through most of the film, but she finally falls in love with him at the end.

The English Patient, 1996

After being nominated for twelve Oscars this movie won nine awards. The story is about a Hungarian Count who has been badly disfigured by fire. You will be surprised at how good The English Patient is, and how fantastic the actors are in this movie. One of the most fascinating films I've ever seen. It's a romantic story about four people during the Second World War. The actors are fantastic. You won't be bored for just one second. A must-see.
