Situated
on equator in northwest of South America, Ecuador is made up of a coastal plain in
west and a tropical forest in east. These two areas are separated by Andes mountains in
center of country. Economy is based on oil and agricultural products, and more oil is
produced in Ecuador than any other South American country except
Venezuela. Bananas, coffee, and cocoa are grown there. Several Indian
languages are spoken in Ecuador, for example. Quechua. Spanish is spoken
there, too. Currency is called sucre. |
